The Catawba Valley region has a host of creative businesses, from ad agencies to design companies and performance groups.
Pfahlert Creative Labs is housed in The Granary, near downtown Hickory. Matt Pfahlert started work in the creative professional field at an early age at his dad’s ad agency MCG Group, Inc. in Toledo, Ohio. Both he and his brother started as agency gophers, and also made photostats in the darkroom for what felt like all day. It didn’t take too long before he was digging into the creative process and honing the skill set needed to successfully work in the creative department.
Matt was born in Pasadena, California, raised in Toledo, Ohio, and lived in Safety Harbor, Florida for 7 years. He is presently living and working in Hickory, which he deems a wonderful place to have a business. He says the low cost of living, and central location make it a great place to live and work.
Before starting Get a Clue Design Studio, which is now known as Pfahlert Creative Labs, 8 years ago, he worked at a few ad agencies and a screen printing company, then dove into the wacky world of self employment.
