The Play’s the Thing!
The Green Room Community Theatre will conduct a free Play Writing Workshop for Youth on Monday, February 27, 2012 from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm at the Old Post Office Playhouse in Newton. This workshop is designed for students in Grades 3 – 12.
Participants will learn the basics of play writing including plot and character development, incorporating stage directions, designing the play to be adaptable for the stage, and much more.
Area playwrights and drama teachers will lead the sessions. The primary goal is to help students be better writers using play writing as a tool. Students will also learn about the opportunity to write and submit a play for the New Playwright’s Festival in March with the chance to have their work produced by The Green Room in May.
There is no cost to attend and lunch will be provided. You must register by 5:00 pm on Friday, February 24, 2012. There is limited space available, and participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
To register and for more information, call The Green Room at 828-464-6583 or send an email to info@the-green-room.org.
This project is supported by the United Arts Council of Catawba County through the North Carolina Arts Council, with funding from the State of North Carolina and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
